Volunteer Opportunities
Many people just like YOU! Volunteers come from all walks of life bringing a myriad of skills and abilities with them. Our volunteers represent a cross-section of the community, and include retirees, teens and individuals that are employed. Gulf Coast Medical Center's Sunshine Volunteers give their time and energy in service to our patients, their families, visitors, and hospital staff.
How old do you have to be to volunteer?
The minimum age for our VolunTEEN Program is 14 years. Certain specialty areas have a minimum age requirement of 18 years. Our senior citizens bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and talent to our program. There is no maximum age limit as we believe that people of all ages who care about helping others are vital assets to Volunteer Services.
What type of training is available?
We train our volunteers during both a comprehensive orientation program and in on-the-job training in each specific service area. Each volunteer receives a written job description, which details service responsibilities. Our Volunteer Handbook is an important resource guide that lists all policies and procedures that relate volunteer services.
Where do volunteers work at Gulf Coast Medical Center?
Volunteers work throughout our medical center according to their interests and skills and the needs of the patients. There are many areas of service where your involvement can truly make a difference in people's lives.
