Level II Neonal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Gulf Coast Medical Center is equipped with a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit designed to provide specialized treatment for premature and newborn infants who have special needs. The NICU staff - including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists, a dietitian, a developmental specialist, a nurse manager, physical and occupatinal therpists and the pharmacy staff - work together as a team to provide understanding and support to families. The NICU's transport team travels to other facilities outside the hosptial (within a 100-mile radius) and safely transports sick infants to our intensive care nursery when requested by a physician.
